ARMAĞAN, Mustafa

Writer and translator (b. 1961 Cizre / Mardin). He is originally from Urfa. He attended primary and secondary school in Bursa (1981). He graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Arts, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He worked as an editor and a director at publication houses after 1986, and as an editor of the review İzlenim (1995-96). He is currently the director of the section for publication of the Turkish Journalists and Writers Foundation, and a columnist in the newspaper Zaman.

He collected the Writers Union of Türkiye Translation Award in 1992 with his translation from Fritgof Capra titled Batı Düşüncesinde Dönem Noktası (The Marking Point in the Western Thought), the Essay Award of the same association in the same year with his book Şehir Ey Şehir (City, Oh City!), and the Thought Award of the aforesaid organization in 2003 with his book Osmanlı / İnsanlığın Son Adası (The Ottoman / the Latest Island of Humanity). Besides, he prepared the 4-volume work of M. Şerif, İslâm Düşüncesi Tarihi (A History of Islamic Thought, 1990-91) for publication.
