AKYÜZ, Kenan

Historian of literature (b. 1911, Ioannina - d. January 1996). He also wrote under the pen name Şinasi Onurkan. He attended the İstanbul Kabataş High School for Boys and graduated from the School of Teacher Training, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1934). After working as a teacher of literature in Kars, Sivas and Yozgat high schools for ten years (1934-44), he was appointed to Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography as an associate professor of Turkish Literature. He became a professor in 1944. He is known for his research and studies on Turkish literature history.
