AKTEPE, Mehmet Münir

Historian (b. 1917, İzmir – d. 27 June 1996). He graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of History. He became an assistant (1946) and associate professor (1953) at the department from which he graduated. He was a member of the Constitutional Assembly (1961), and afterwards returned to the university and was appointed as professor of Modern History (1963) and retired in 1983.

He was a member of the Atatürk Culture, Language and History Advanced Association, the Turkish Historical Society and the Historical Works and Monuments Committee. A gift book was published in his name by İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of History (1997).
