AKSOY, Fahir

Painter and writer (b. 1916, İstanbul). He completed his pre-graduate education at Edirne High School (1934), which he had started at İstanbul Göztepe American College. After two years of office life, he worked on newspapers such as Vakit, Akşam, Tan and Ulus. He worked as a redactor at the General Directorate of the Press and Publishing.

He ran an art gallery in İzmir in his later years. His interviews and painting critiques were published in reviews such as Yelken, Yeditepe, Papirüs, Dost, and Yeni Dergi. He published a monthly review Köken (1974-75, 19 issues) in Ankara. He collected some of his articles that included the memoirs of Ataç, Orhan Veli, Cahit Sıtkı, C. Atuf Kansu, İlhan Tarus, Çetin Altan, Salim Şengil, Mehmet Kemal, Cüneyt Arcayürek, Cihat Burak, Orhan Peker and Fikret Otyam and others in his book Kürdün Meyhanesi (The Tavern of the Kurd)
